In modern healthcare systems, the hospital information system or HIS plays a vital role to increase efficiency and smoothen the workflow to provide healthcare services to the massive population. This technology advanced the healthcare system and made the data management of patients more organized. It helps healthcare providers to manage patients’ health histories, offer the best services, and work more professionally. As measuring a patient’s blood pressure is one of the firstest diagnoses while visiting the hospitals HINGMED develops its clinical automatic blood pressure monitor to integrate with the hospital information system (HIS) so it can work more efficiently and the patient’s BP data can be stored safely and used in the further analysis if necessary.
What is HIS or Hospital Information System?
A hospital information system is simply a massive network where all the patient’s data including their personal and clinical data are organized & stored securely so the data can be available and used anywhere for further evaluation. HIS allows hospitals and healthcare centers to work more organized and provide the best service to their patients. It usually links with the patient’s identity card and creates an individual folder with the patient’s unique identity number. Per the diagnosis performed, the HIS system stored the files in the hospital server and recalled them whenever necessary. This process is completely digital and completely paperless. Doctors can easily find the requested details of a particular patient and add their treatment within a short time. The system stays online 24/7 and doctors can easily access their patient’s history from anywhere in terms of any urgency. No doubt, it provides better healthcare service with precise accuracy as it’s meant to do.
What are the Benefits of a Hospital Information System?
With technological advancement, everything is going digital to reach its top potential. In the healthcare industry, this advancement is essential as healthcare is one of our basic needs. Over the course of time, there are almost 8 billion people living on the earth, and with the increasing population, it is impractical to provide healthcare services in the traditional paper-based way so, to increase the performance of healthcare sectors HIS system is a must needed environment. There are a large number of benefits that come along with a hospital information system. For example, first of all, hospitals can offer quality healthcare to all patients equally with the hospital information system. It enhanced the security, transparency, and safety of the patient’s data for years. Also, providing digital transcriptions will help to decrease the treatment error rate caused because of poor handwriting by doctors. Additionally, it contributes to the govt. and personal finance by reducing the re-testing of the same health examinations. Overall, the HIS system assists doctors and hospitals to keep their patient’s information intact and available for authorized personnel and assures better services to all the patients correspondingly.
How Does the Hospital Information System (HIS) Work with DBP-01P?
In order to manage and analyze the previous BP data with other health checkups, HINGMED designed its clinical automatic blood pressure monitor DBP-01P to work with the HIS system simultaneously and upload the data on the HIS server. Though the DBP-01P BP monitor can store about 9999 readings, it’s also supported with different types of ports (USB-A, USB-B, RS232, SD card, Ethernet) to support the data transfer in other devices to connect with the HIS server.
To measure and collect the BP data on the HIS server there are a few pieces of equipment will be needed to complete the data transmission to the HIS server, along with the DBP-01P there will be a computer or PC where BP management software is installed, and an identification module will be connected to complete the whole setup. The identification module such as an ID card reader or barcode scanner will be connected to a computer or tablet device. The card reader/scanner will read the unique code and send it to the connected tablet and the tablet will connect with the patient’s database on the HIS server. After that, the patient will press the start button, and HINGMED DBP-01P will complete the assessment automatically and send the measurement data to the management software, the software will transfer the data to HIS server to store the data in that patient’s individual database.
How DBP-01P will benefit the patients with HIS?
As mentioned earlier, BP measurement is the first and essential step in almost all health checkups in hospitals. The evaluation of blood pressure helps doctors to understand the patient’s heart health and prescribe the medications later on. Some medications can cause low or high BP and it is quite harmful to patients suffering from hypertension/hypotension. traditionally in hospitals, doctors measures and write the BP values by hand but if the blood pressure device can integrate with the hospital server it can transmit the data and the data will be secure for a longer time and it will help the doctors to recall any previous data for better understanding the patient’s health history and for other research purposes too. The whole process will be smooth, paperless, and fully digital and it can be useful to the growing population to check their heart health.
Assuring a smooth and accurate diagnosis is and will be a challenge for both hospitals and health professionals. And, to make the diagnosis more comfortable and effortless, integrating with HIS, HINGMED DBP-01P automatic blood pressure monitor can add great value to massive treatment centers such as hospitals and private diagnosis centers.
